What is this country coming too????

When I decided to immigrate to Canada in 1966 I was told at Canada House in Belfast N.Ireland. Son, if you go to Canada you will have to work hard there are no handouts there!
Boy have those values changed since I set foot in Halifax in January 1967. The Charlottetown courthouse yesterday gave a young immigrant woman a complete discharge with no criminal record, she had been charged with stabbing her sister. the reasoning behind the judge’s decision, if she had a criminal record she would be deported??? An article written and actually suffered by David Menzies (freelance writer) appeared in the Toronto Sun on 3rd Aug 2011 he and his son were taking pictures in the downtown area. He was rushed and punched in the face by a muslim woman then surrounded and yelled at by a crowd of middle eastern men and women clad in Burka’s demanding he give them the camera. Apparently its forbidden to photograph muslim women. (although that particular rule does not appear in the Qur’an) Police were called but would not charge the woman with assault, even though several witnesses confirmed the mans claim. Hard to believe these things can happen here, but they do!!!!! Our government needs to enact some clear rules, if you commit a crime in Canada you will be dealt with as a Canadian regardless of your religious beliefs or values.
Only in Canada Eh!!
Cheers and keep reading.

  1. I agree completely, as I mentioned I did gthe same thing in Downtown Cairo in 73 a crowd surrounded me jabbering in Arabic etc. I was arrested for taking photos even though I was in full UN uniform including Blue Beret. I understand this happening in their country their laws BUT as you say this is Canada I too am an immigrant and Feel tha Canadian Laws should prevail no matter your etnicity. Keep up the Blog amigo. `lligitimi non Carborundum“ as the sages say.
