A New Form of Transport

On Saturday 27th August 2011 I might have attempted to return to my youth?? I bought a 1976 Lambretta scooter. When I was stationed at HMS Harrier in 1959 I often rode around the Welsh country side on a Lambretta. I didn’t actually own it, I owned a BSA Golden Flash 650 Twin motor cycle with sidecar. A shipmate owned the Lambretta and we would swap rides. In the photo is Margaret a wren (Women’s Royal Naval Service) from the camp, we were dating back then. But her parents were none to happy with her riding around on a powerful motor bike, hence using the scooter! My new to me scooter is quite good with only 900 miles on it, still has original white paint and it looks very much like the one Margaret is sitting on in the photo.I don’t expect I’ll get it back on the road until next summer, its been stored for the last four years so needs a thorough going over. It will be fun in the sun!!!
Cheers and keep reading
