On the 28th February I posted on bad advertizing, making particular mention to Manulife. The full title is Manufactures Life Insurance Co of Canada, the biggest company of its kind in the country. Tonight they were featured again, this time on CBC Market Place talking about health travel insurance. Two families in particular were interviewed. Both had Manulife travel insurance. As an example,one policy cost $2500. Both were turned down because the company claimed the customers filled the forms out incorrectly. The medical costs incurred ranged from a high of $350,000 for one family to $80,000 for the other. If you missed the CBC show, please heed my advice, if you are thinking of buying a policy from Manulife, have a lawyer read and help you understand the policy first. Be careful too, many banks advertize insurance policies for travel, for life and other coverages, in almost all cases its Manulife underwriting the coveragee. It makes me sick to think of this company hauling in BILLIONS of dollars from an unsuspecting public. We should watch carefully our Health Canada coverage. Beware of mention of a possible two tier system. Manulife are surely targeting that as their ultimate achievement, or perhaps rip off is the more suitable word.

I hate buying insurance – especially life insurance. It is like gambling against yourself.
This said we used PC Financial travel insurance on a trip to the US and although the paperwork was extensive we did get reimbursed.
Hi Brad Unfortunately with my health history over the last few years,getting coverage is all but impossible and certainly very risky. Nothing is sure until you file a claim???
