Spring is in the Air

Its the time of year when I get frustrated, listening to people in places like Halifax talking about first drives in their antique cars etc. Here on PEI the weather is nice, sunny and warm but alas not yet time to launch the Rover or the Lambretta. PEI is an island of sandstone and shale, we have no rock base. In the spring our roads heave and fall as the ice comes out. Giant pot holes appear overnight and we are still likely to get more snow. We don’t really have a spring, we go from winter to summer with mud in between. We have to leave the car at the end of the driveway and walk the 1/4 mile for the next few weeks until it firms up. Walking the dogs off leash back through the fields is restricted too, they get filthy in the mud and the ever present danger of re-emerging wild life such as Skunks. Yesterday I saw my first squirrel , another sign of spring. Can’t wait to get the toys out and about again. Linda is itching to ride her new bike. Patience is the word of the day. No soccer for Arsenal this weekend, they play Monday evening. Lost an hour of sleep last night the clocks went ahead, another spring sign. Off to church now.
Cheers and keep reading
