The photo I have posted was taken in 1959, I was twenty years old and riding a Lambretta around the narrow country lanes of South Wales with a pretty girl on the back. In those days traffic was light and for the most part slow. Now!! the caption “there is no fool like an old fool” really does apply to me today!! I have my 1976 Lambretta running and ready for its safety Inspection. I headed into town this afternoon and got about 10 klms before I turned around and went home again. At twenty scooting was fun, at 73 its down right insane. I was uncomfortable, terrified, frightened, panicky, and my heart was racing. Six times I came so close to death at the hands of irresponsible drivers using cell phones and or just going too damn fast. I was passed at high speed while attempting to turn left, even though I was clearly signalling my intentions. I was nearly blown off the road by a passing bus, and almost run over by a taxi. That’s it for me, I’ll stick with the Rover, the Lambretta is going on the auction block.
Glad to still be alive and able to write this blog!!!
Cheers and keep reading

Be Careful my friend , I feel that the very poor driving of a lot of Islanders, was what was unsettling you. You have certainly survived as long as you have by being a SAFE Coteous Knowledgable driver. Put away the Lambretta and relax in comfort in your Rover.
