We live in a province with very busy soup kitchens, A Salvation Army struggling to keep heating oil in peoples tanks. Destitute men and women living in hovels and going hungry. We have far too many politicians running (into the ground) this province. Every time the deficit balloons their solution is to raise taxes and lay workers off, but never from government, they never start at the top. Instead of building unnecessary new highways, Hills in Borden, new liquor stores in Stratford and using credit cards to travel first class and feed themselves they should stop and think. How often have we heard the excuse,if we don’t pay politicians well, we wont attract good people. We are paying well ($111.000) but it ain’t working, we are not getting good or responsible people. It is time to cut the number of MLA’s in half. It is time to cap their credit card use and remove unnecessary perks. It is time this applied to all politicians, not just the sitting MLA’s. When governments change we start the same old patronage games all over again but with different faces.
Islanders speak up,take action, say no to HST.
