The Royal Nova Scotia Tattoo.

I just returned home from Halifax, and it was well worth the trip. Quite a trip at that! My daughter Susannah and her three large dogs travel with me via the ferry to Pictou,NS where she met up with her partner Ruth and the family. Now you may not think that  significant, however I drive a Toyota Yaris 2dr. The three dogs were large, Doberman-German Shep and a German Pointer. When I arrived in Halifax it took an hour to vacuum up all the dog hairs in the car. Nevertheless, it was worth it to attend the Tattoo. What an amazing show, three hours of totally exciting entertainment. The bands, the displays, the dancers and acrobats, the show even included a marriage, yes a real marriage. Two years earlier two cast members, one from Halifax and one from Germany met and fell in love. The Padre from the local Naval Base married them at the beginning of the Tattoo. My grandson Chris, not impressed with the wedding asked me if this was all a Tattoo was??? A little later he got quite a shock when soldiers drop down from the roof to complete an obstacle course, that piqued his interest, which continued throughout the rest of the show with the cannon and gun firings etc etc.
The Sunday morning return trip home was mostly uneventful,  I did spot a little of Nova Scotia wild life. Near the Halifax Airport I saw a turtle trotting along at the side of the road, well maybe he wasn’t actually trotting? Just outside of Truro a beautiful young deer was feeding in the roadside grass. I tooted my horn and he quickly ducked back into the trees.  Hopefully he and the turtle will stay clear of the traffic. As for me, when I finish this blog I’m climbing into my favourite chair for a nap.
Cheers and keep reading
