A Small World

It is indeed a small world. Yesterday with out friends Carl and Jan we took a drive to Murray Harbour where we enjoyed a great lunch. Across the road at church bazaar, I saw an elderly man getting out of his car. In the back window was a Korean War Veteran decal, so I stopped to talk with him. This might have been one of many casual conversation that take place when people meet briefly in passing. We talked about the Far East and the places we had visited or had been stationed in. He was retired from the USN and I Royal Navy. When I mentioned the RN he said Oh! I sailed on a British submarine once,it was way back in the 1950’s, the name of the boat was Alcide. Wow!! what a small world I served in Alcide for two years 1963-65. It is strange how people meet and find they have a common link from the past. From this I have learned I should strike up conversations where ever the opportunity presents itself. Lots of interesting stories to be told.
Cheers and keep reading
