Tomorrow is the last day of the month and the time here on PEI when the price of gas goes up, or if we are lucky, down. Trouble is, its a guessing game, do I fill up today or wait until tomorrow and see if the price is lower!!!. When I first arrived in Canada in 1964 I marveled at the cheap cost of gas and the huge size of the cars. The first car I bought was a (cost $100.00)1956 Chev Belaire 4 dr sedan. On the sales lot I had to ask the salesman how to drive an automatic???I had never before driven anything but a standard. I think he considered me a crazy Englishmen and gave me a strange look.!!!! Everywhere there were pretty little gas stations and such a variety of brands. Always a free gift with a fill up, cheap plastic drink glasses, tiger tails, beach balls, green stamps and many other quite useless items.
The price of gas!!!cheap cheap cheap, $5 fillups. When Linda and I started life together in Windsor Ontario in 1971 we could fill up across the border in Detroit for 23 cents per gallon. Sadly those lovely old gas stations, gifts and gas prices are gone forever, more is the pity. Oh well, I had better go fill the Yaris!!!
Cheer and keep reading.
