This Liberal government is hell bent on bringing in the hated HST. If it has to happen then do it right and justly. Sheridan seems to think he is easing the tax burden on islanders by exempting heating oil from the
tax. Certainly it would appear the majority of islanders use oil for heat, but not all, some people use wood, some use pellets stoves, some electricity and others use propane. Apparently Sheridan can’t exempt all these items, and I understand that. However if he was doing this fairly he would exempt “ELECTRICITY”not oil. Surely everyone uses electricity in their homes, businesses, hospitals, city lighting and just about everywhere else. Previous governments have given incentives to get people off oil, we recently received a small grant toward the purchase of a pellet stove. Perhaps if this government had real leadership we wouldn’t be in this mess. But no, Mr Ghiz hides while his ministers make all the mistakes and take all the flak. I have never before wanted a next provincial election to come around so badly as I do now. We really need to change this government and soon before the Island is bankrupt
Cheers and keep reading.
