A Proud Moment

The photo in this post is a copy of my invitation to a luncheon with the President of Ireland. This grand lady visited PEI on October 4th 1998. For me this was a highlight in my life. I have read Irish history, of the desperate struggles to gain freedom from English rule. The many brave men who died in the cause of freedom, Michael Collins comes to mind. When I visit Dublin I have a special feeling standing outside the General Post Office on O’Connell Street. Its like standing on hallowed ground, the place where the 1916 Easter Risings took place. Although the uprising failed, it did lead to Ireland’s eventual freedom in 1921. Long Live the Republic of Ireland.
Just a moment in time.
Cheers and keep reading
