Steven Harper was talking with Canadian troops in Afghanistan. He asked the group if anyone could tell him what a tragedy was. An Army chef put up his hand and said if a friend got run over by a tank that would be a tragedy. No said Steve, that would be an accident. Another soldier put up his hand and said, if a helicopter full of troops crashed and they were all killed that would be a tragedy. No said our illustrious leader, that would be a great loss. A submariner at the back of the room put his hand up and said, if you were flying home and your plane was blown up by a friendly fire missile that would be a tragedy. Right said Harper that would indeed be a tragedy, but how did you come to that conclusion. Well it was easy really sir. it certainly wouldn’t be a great loss, and probably not an accident either.
