I attended a car show in Charlottetown yesterday and got quite a shock. My 51 year old Rover is still on the road and in good condition. When people see it they are often quite impressed. Today I’m not quite so impressed with it, 51 years old, is still just a youngster compared with the car I saw yesterday. The beautiful Silver Ghost Rolls Royce of 1912 vintage, yes that’s right 1912-100 years old and still going strong. This beautiful car came all the way from Australia and is touring North America with the Silver Ghost Club. What an amazing vehicle, an immaculate six cylinder engine with two spark plugs per cylinder. Years ago Rolls Royce claimed the only noise one could hear while driving was the clock ticking. I believe that! this engine was so silky smooth when running. I wonder if my Rover will last a 100 years? I know I wont!! The Rover was know in England as the poor mans Rolls Royce, so maybe a 100 years is possible.
