The Car of the Year

The Tesla Electric Car Manufacturer all new Tesla S sedan has been awarded Motor Trends Car of the Year for 2013. The first time ever an electric car has won this award. The Tesla company have been producing electric vehicles for some years now, but mostly concentrated on small two seat sports cars. The new S is a large family sedan that can hold up to seven passengers. I don’t know what they cost but they are expensive and will only reach to the wealthy for now. Tesla are planing to create a large dealer network across North America. However, service will be much different from what we are use to. No spark plugs,no oil changes,no exhaust systems and no noise. Linda and I actually spotted one in Charlottetown a few days ago. When I first saw it I didn’t recognize which make and model it was and was curious. I was very surprised to discover it was the new Tesla S car , it had USA plates. An amazingly large interior with a very different looking dash. Of course we couldn’t fully appreciate the dash with everything turned off, I’m sure it lights up quite dramatically when the car is started. Maybe this is the automobile of the future, but I still have reservations. Electric vehicles have been around for many years yet only since skyrocketing gas prices have they become of interest. I still feel Hydrogen is the future or possibly some yet to be invented power source. Before the automobile, horse manure was the current pollution, cars brought gas fumes and smog, so what is next ,millions of used electric car batteries maybe???
Keep motoring.
God Bless and keep reading.
