I always had respect for and supported the principles of the Salvation Army. At Christmas I made a point of dropping any loose change in the Army Kettles. Not anymore though, this year I have walked by the kettles and not dropped a single coin in. I’m so disappointed that this supposedly Christian organization discriminates along the same lines as the Baptist-Catholics and several other church organizations. They discriminate against Gays. Oh! they claim not to too, they use that old well worn excuse we have heard so many times in the past “we love the sinner not the sin”. Two men in love – two women in love that’s very wrong according to the Salvation Army guiding principles. Yet here we are at Christmas, a time of peace and good will to all, and still too many religious groups contend that only love between and man and a woman is okay. My youngest daughter is gay, she is no more a sinner than the majority of church goers I know. My abounding love for my two daughters is unconditional regardless of their sexual orientation. I readily accept we are all different but is that a good enough reason to discriminate”. Not in my book it isn’t. Sorry Sally Army your kettle will see no coins from me this or any other Christmas until you do what you claim to be doing. Loving all God’s children.
Wishing everyone a very Happy and Gay Christmas.
God Bless and keep reading.
