I know I said I’d not post anymore political subject material, I’m really sorry but I just can’t resist having a go at the Canadian Senate and the Senators therein. We started off a few days ago with three Senators under scrutiny for their expense claims of maintaining two residencies. Their home residence must be in Province where they live and whom represent, Plus a secondary residence in Ottawa when working in the Senate. The three senators have now grown to five, there could be many more to come. There is much talk in government circles of transparency these days, however it is more a case of smoke and mirrors. In the case of Prince Edward Islands Senator Mike Duffy, he has claimed something in the region of $42.000 in living expenses over the last two years for a cottage in Cavendish that he uses occasionally in the summer and is claiming as his main residence. You see to represent PEI the senator must live in the Province. Senator Duffy is scrambling these days, he doesn’t pay taxes on PEI and he doesn’t have a PEI health card. He does pay taxes in Ontario and he has an Ontario health card. Now is that transparency or smoke and mirrors. So where does senator Duffy live??where he pays his taxes and where he receives his primary health care of course. Senators like Duffy have a dream job for life with a salary of approx $140,000 and at age 75 receive a pension of approx $60.000. I can not understand how any Senator could be so greedy to want more than the generous amount they are presently entitled too. Its disgusting to have people like Senator Duffy holding such a position of power and yet seemingly answerable to no one.
I have composed a little ditty for Duffy, it is sung to the tune of “Bud The Spud”
Its our own Duff he’s having it rough
Rolling down the highway crying
The duff is big up on the hill
But he’s not from Prince Edward Island.
God Bless and keep reading
