A Sunday Drive!!!!

Sunday 16th June was a special day for me, my good friend Peter Noakes and his wife Cora drove out for a visit in his very beautiful hand built car. For me it was an nostalgic moment that took me back to a time when I looked out of the windshield at long and imposing engine bonnets. I was reminded of the old cars from the 1930-40’s with gleaming chrome headlights on each side of the radiator with an iconic mascot or sometimes a water temperature gauge racing ahead. On Peter’s car the Famous Jaguar leaps forward from the radiator cap. What a marvelous feeling sitting up high in the front seat of this amazing and solid motorcar. A real motorcar from a bygone era when we had little weather protection, no heaters, just leather gloves, hat and often goggles with the wind blowing through our hair. Peter’s car embodies all of these great features and our memories flow back to a simpler time of the automobile. A time when one could tell one make of car from another and indeed I prided myself as a young boy doing so. Who can tell today!!! the cars all look alike and alas the grand old British Marques have all faded into history. Nevertheless, yesterday I relived brief moments of my youth and of the cars I drove, Thank you Peter, you made my day.
