This was a post from June 2012, I thought in view of recent events it needed to be re-aired
Recently in the Guardian newspaper our finance Minister likened himself to Robin Hood. A real stretch of the bow string me thinks!!! However, Minister Sheridan’s recent comments have inspired another great Island story on a par with Anne of Green Gables.
Once upon a time there was this merry scary band of outlaws, they lived deep within the the city. Their leader was the evil sheriff Ghiz of Nott(listen)ingham. Robber Hood Sheridan was his right hand man. He was busy planning a new way to rob the poor and give to the rich. Meanwhile the resident camp faith giver Friar Tuck McKinley was attending another last supper at tax payers expense. The merry scary band knew the locals were restless and may at any minute take to the streets waving dangerous banners and flags. However the merry scary band were not worried, Little John Vessey had a plan B, he would build a fast escape route through Bonshaw to Borden where they could safely hide out in the hills until things cooled down. The one thing the merry scary band were sad about, was the fact Maid Marion Crane had fled the camp. If she stayed she would surely be screwed out of the next election. Nevertheless the merry scary band were a merry lot, they had lots of money and credit cards and if the locals cast them out, they had rich government pensions to see them through. The merry scary band had nothing to worry about, they would just live happily ever after.
In 1939 we went to war to rid the world of two despots intent on taking over the world. That was a truly worthy cause in the fight to preserve democracy, and thankfully we succeeded. Today this great country of Canada enjoys freedom and democracy. Or does it??? Today we have greedy senators like Duffy defrauding the tax payers, while already earning a salary most of us can only dream of. We have a micro manager Prime Minister who claims he didn’t know anything about the Duffy scandal, The line from the old TV show “Hee Haw” comes to mind “I know nothing”. Closer to home we have Ghiz the invisible Premier of PEI who apparently believes gambling is the way out of our deficit. His right hand man is the financial wizard Robberhood Sheridan, I make mention of both him and Ghiz in my Robin Hood Story!!! Wes the wizard decided to use tax payers dollars to invest in an online gambling game called Geosweep,(4 Million Dollars) a game that had already failed in Europe and has since been cancelled here too. However, Wes the Wizard says he is still mildly confident of the success of this investment. Well of course he is!!!after all its not his money on the line, its ours!!! Some fine democracy we have won eh!!!!I just hope we can survive until the next election, and when that comes around I hope people choose very carefully the people who will run this province.
God Bless and keep reading.
