Not many readers attempted a guess, but my old shipmate from HM S Ganges was spot on (well done Tony). Of course he should have known, Right. Us Ganges boys are a smart lot. Anyway to the question, what is the blog post photo???? Its the sharp end of the Royal navy submarine ALLIANCE, she has just completed an extensive restoration at the submarine museum in Gosport. She stands proudly on the dock just outside HMS Dolphin home of the 1st submarine squadron and the submarine training base with the 100 foot free ascent escape tank. That may not be accurate to today but it was how things were in the 1960’s.
