The Mini Hunt Begins

003004001
We drove to Murray Harbour this afternoon to look at a 2004 Mini Cooper. While I quietly assessed the condition, Linda goes around pointing short comings and looking for faults. It is a good combination and between us we don’t miss much. This Mini wasn’t too bad for the year and the asking price okay. However,I use a rule of thumb when buying a used car. Generally when a car is presented for sale the exterior/interior has been cleaned to make the car more presentable. That is important of course, but also and more
importantly I judge a car based on its engine compartment. A clean engine bay is a good indicator the car has been well maintained, a dirty engine bay usually means the opposite. Unfortunately this little car had a dirty engine bay. Not sure it fits the bill so the hunt continues.
There are lots out there so sooner or later I will find the right Mini for me.

God Bless and keep reading

Nice looking little cars though I really know very little about them, they are very appealing. I also like the fiats

Hi Peter yes they are very appealing little cars but like you I don’t know a great deal about them myself. I want a British car and this is as close as one can come these days. I also want a car I don’t have to work one myself, not able anymore so a newer model can be serviced by a local garage. I like the Fiat too but have only seen them from a distance. My preference is a convertible and I’m considering the new VW Beettle along with the Mini etc.
