Here we go again, our Liberal Government are preparing for another spending spree. Ghiz has major Island unions on his case over the planned civil service pension cuts. Of course not the politicians pensions just the civil service both working and already retired. Remember the HST, had to bring that in to create a level playing field???Actually the field tilted in governments favour as an extra $25 million will slip into their greasy fingers this year. Remember the hated and very unnecessary Plan B? A time when Islanders homes were expropriated and people arrested by the RCMP, carted off to jail
and fined. When parts of the Islands loveliest forest land was destroyed for a new highway. We have the Hills of Borden, which I have yet to have explained to me, why they were necessary or affordable. We have a mega loan for hotel project that is yet to
be repaid. We are selling a golf course without releasing details. A golf course that is also being claimed as being part of native lands??? We have invested over $4million in Geo Sweep that has yet to turn a profit. There are many other silly and wasteful expenditures such as 200 thousand use tires. They are sitting on the Western end of the island awaiting shredding. The only problem, the guy going to shred the tires has absconded with a tidy sum of $2 per tire. Yet here we go again, the Ghiz liberals are now proposing a gateway project at the Hillsboro Bridge. The government garage is to be moved to a yet undisclosed/undecided location. Then on the vacated site a grand recreational facility/swimming pool/sports venue will rise. Oh! sorry its just in the planning stages so no cost figures are available at this time. It is strange through all this government hype no one mentioned the ballooning deficit, or the costs of next years celebrations. I guess we will only hear about those things when Finance Minister Sheridan tells us that due to an unexpected down turn in the economy he has to increase tax again. It seems simple to me and I’m sure to most other Islanders, that when you run out of money you stop spending. I think it is only a matter of time before this government bankrupts the province, but their pensions will be protected!!!
And that is my Tuesday Rant.
God Bless and keep reading.
