Selling my last Rover was always a painful exercise and very difficult thing to give up. However age and arthritis and a few other issues forced me to face the facts. I was no longer able to work on cars, particularly antique cars, hence the newish Mini. I rationalized it was still built in Britain so was an acceptable replacement for the Rover. Well guess what? it is even more than merely acceptable it has long roots back to the Rover factory. The grey/white body you see in the photo is an original Rover test design for a new Mini, and this was before BMW took over. The particular Mini in the photo recently turned up for sale in the UK. I would hope it becomes be a good candidate for the British Heritage Automobile Museum near Coventry. It was made in approx 1995 and while it is very close to the finished product there are a few small detail changes. Nevertheless, it is a Rover and not a BMW design and therefore as far as I’m concerned my car is a Mini Rover. That information makes me happy and allows me to continue using my name “Irishrover”
