Daughters Eh?????

IMG_1454Daughters are a wondrous gift to be treasured for a lifetime and I have been blessed with two of the very best. Growing up they have caused me great moments of happiness, moments of despair, tears, fears and worries, but I’d gladly live through them again and again. This morning I thought I’d relate some of the funnier moments of Caroline as a little girl. I used to drive her to a baby sitter each morning on my way to work, and often we sang along with the car radio. One popular song of the day that we both liked, I don’t recall the actual name but it was about a guy who had lost his wife/girl friend and turned to the demon drink (you know the type of sad sack song) the lyrics went like this “pop a top again, set them up my friend”.  Caroline sang ‘pop a top again, seven up my friend”. That might have been a wiser choice for the poor guy in the song. One morning I ran out of gas on the way to the sitter, Caroline and I walked the rest of the way. When we arrived she told the sitter I had run out of grass! The sitters husband was a policeman,  fortunately in 1967-68 we still thought of grass as the green stuff on the front lawn. As the years past and Caroline began learning to read at school we encountered more amusing and funny events. In the Dominion Store one day she came rushing up to us all excited, at the meat counter she had just spotted Lion Chops for sale!!! they were loin chops of course. Today she is all grown up, smart and beautiful with two lovely children of her own, they will no doubt give her similar experiences to those I had those many years ago. My other lovely daughter is probably reading this and saying “Hey! what about me???? Not to worry Susannah your turn is next! so watch this space.

God Bless and keep reading
