My blog about Susannah went viral yesterday, well at least it did in Windsor/Grand Falls areas. Up until then my best blog day was 486 hits, yesterday it soared over the six hundred mark!!!!Linda said I was on a roll and had an audience, she was right. So following on this success here is another Budge Blog. I know Ruth will appreciate the truth of this story, and remember I did state Susannah was as messy as they come. Why the photo of a Lada? well I bought an old rusty Lada for Budge in her last year in High school. It looked nothing like the one in the photo. Nevertheless,t it made it into the graduation year book, Budge was voted most likely to win the Daytona 500. Anyway to my story, Susannah was a Sea Cadet and I the CO of the Corps. I took them camping at a Boy Scout camp late in the fall circa 1989-90. To keep the cadets busy one afternoon I devised a scavenger hunt. Remember we were in the woods and far from civilization. I made a list of things that I thought would be almost impossible to find in the area. The list consisted of items like bottle caps, clothes pin, elastic band and so on. Imagine my amazement when almost all the cadets were back within half an hour with their lists complete. I couldn’t believe they had found all these rare items at all, never mind so quickly. My first clue to the mystery was the fact that the cadets were carrying their items in old Tim Horton cups? I dashed out side to find several other cadets still rooting through Susannah’s Lada. That was the only time I saw the little car look so clean and free of garbage!!!!! I recall one frosty morning watching Budge drive out of the back yard on her way to school, but when I look down the driveway there was no sign off her. After further searching I found her and the Lada stuck around the side of the house between two trees. The Lada was a memorable little vehicle that served Budge well all through high school. Sorry Budge I couldn’t resist!!!!!!
God Bless and keep reading PS– you are as much fun to write about as politicians!!!!
