Digging Out Again!!!!

This morning we are recovering from another 37 centimeters of snow. We had high winds with the snow so the drifts are bad and schools are so far delayed an hour. It is also very cold outside minus 9 or 1o degrees Celsius . Time to fire up the snow blower and break out the shovel. Actually (6AM) I have already used a shovel just so the dogs could get out the door. You will notice I have posted a photo of a texting mitt, not sure if it was invented in Canada but it would certainly seem to be a good idea if you text a lot. Can’t say I have ever seen one in use and I have no interest in buying one. The obvious reason I don’t text, you might say I’m all fingers and thumbs. Besides my Granddaughter Melissa (14) recently told me my cell phone is an antique. I was somewhat taken aback! I thought I was a modern guy with a modern cell phone just like everyone else. Apparently my Samsung flip phone is not up to date, how was I to know? Its difficult these days for my generation to stay abreast of the latest electronic devices. I grew up without telephones, television, refrigerators, emails or electric lights.  I’m upset! I really thought I was ahead of the game, I even got rid of my old computer and converted to a lap top. Apparently even that has been replaced by Ipods or Ipads or something???as for blackberry!!! well I used to pick them in the hedgerows and eat them.  Its a strange new world and I’m struggling to keep up and can’t understand why????after all I was a dedicated follower of Star Trek for years.  The latest blow to my world is that Canada Post is about to cease door to door mail delivery. We don’t even have it now, instead we travel about five kilometers each way to one of those super community mail boxes. The Postmaster General said it would be good exercise for us seniors walking to pick up the mail. I can walk about two klicks per day so it will take me a week to get my mail, and imagine if when I arrive at the box there is no mail. Could my heart survive the disappointment and the walk home empty handed??????
