A Wee Bit of Ireland

newgrange-aerialNewgrange2Ireland has long been credited with saving civilization at the time of the fall of the Roman Empire. All the knowledge amassed across Europe was gathered in Ireland and saved from destruction as the Huns pillaged across the lands . Many scholars and citizens are well aware of this. However how many know of Newgrange?

Newgrange is a prehistoric monument in County Meath, Ireland, about one kilometre north of the River Boyne. It was built about 3200 BC, during the Neolithic period, which makes it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian pyramids.
There is no agreement on the use of this ancient monument, it is possibly of a religious nature, like many other ancient structures Newgrange is aligned with the sun.
I’m shamed to say that even though I was born and raised in Ireland I was never aware until now of this most ancient of structures. Kind of makes me even more proud to be Irish!!!
God Bless and keep reading
