I hope I did not offend too many Scots with my Haggis remarks in yesterday’s blog, and I ‘m mean no offence today when I tell you I like Black pudding about as much as Haggis. However those two dislikes are hardly reason to see Scotland separate from the Union. I like scotch whisky, I love the highlands and the lochs where I spent much time while serving in submarines. I like the people, their traditions, the bagpipes and the kilt, even wore one once, but looked a bit of a prat! as I didn’t have the legs for it. Maybe it was because I kept my knickers on. I considered it a wee bit risky removing them when one has had a few drams too many on New Year Eve in Scotland (Hogmanay) . I had many happy times the other side of Hadrian’s wall, I have spent time in so many different parts of the Highlands. Scappa Flow to Edinburgh where I spent my twenty first birthday. Glasgow to Helensburg, Campbeltown to Arrochar, Rothsay to Dumbarton and so many other places. I hope and pray that today the vote goes in favour of remaining in the Union. Come away me Bonnie Lads n Lassies come away. (apologies for my poor Scottish brogue, but I’m Irish!!!)
