In the recent New Brunswick provincial election a lone Green candidate was elected. That is ironic when we think of Prime minister Harper in New York and is not attending the World conference on climate change????. Does he care about the drastic changes in weather patterns or does he just care about money. I guess we could say both issues are about green! However, while 125 world leaders are meeting to discuss this very important issue Harper is dodging it. I suppose it is easy to understand why he would dodge. It would be more than difficult to explain away the Tar Sands and the huge pollution crisis they are creating in Canada and the world. Nevertheless, there is hope, we now have two Green Federal members of Parliament, and at least one provincial member. Perhaps this is the beginning of a real movement toward a better more sustainable future. Perhaps the time has arrived for people like Harper to disappear from the world of politics. It is time for real leadership, for real stewardship of our nation and the planet. The next federal election is just over the horizon, an opportunity for us to make great changes. To vote for like minded people that care about the future of our children and our children’s children, that care about the world we live in. An opportunity to ban pesticides both cosmetic and agricultural, to stop fish kills, prevent health risks, stop the loss of wildlife and to provide clean air to breathe. The simple answer is not to vote for the old guard Conservative/Liberal party’s, instead give the Greens a chance. They are not likely to form a government Federally or Provincially but they can effect change if they are elected,, and the more we elect the great the change!
