Looking For Shipmate Submarine Alcide

24883alcide_auriga_halifax_63I received this email via my blog from a young lady trying to trace her father. Can anyone help? Message below

happen to come across your page trying to search some random terms as I have been looking for my father, John Brian Hutchinson
Born: Guiseley, Yorkshire England on August 2nd or 3rd 1942
Mother: Mary (do not know surname; however, she had a sister Ann)

He served in, The Royal Navy, Stationed on the HMS Alcide when he married my mother Elaine Grafton at HMCS Stadacona,Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in Nov. 12, 1964. At that time they lived at 2 Cherry Drive, Dartmouth, N.S. Canada He was still on board when they brought the HMS Alcides back to england. My mother remembers he had some buddies although she can’t remember their names she does remember some of the nicknames like, smokey (she said, smokey helped, then get together), Gordon Doran, Rosie, and Nick.

Is there any chance you knew him or know where I could find him? Any information would help and is greatly appreciated.

Please contact me via the blog and I will pass any info on to Andrea.

God Bless and keep reading

Hi Ben, I received a similar message from the same lady, I tried to reply to her but as I am not a paid up member of the Forces web site my e mail reply did not go through.
The name sounds familiar but that is about it.

Hi Ben, Advise her to go onto a face book page called Search Squad, ask her to put as much information on there as she can. I have recently found my birth mother 1926 – 2006 and around 40 relations going back to the Battle of Waterloo and one ancestor being one of the first policemen in London. This face book page has lots of what they call search angels, they all have various sites available to them, such as Ancestry.com, census’s, parish registers, directories etc etc., it is a rule of this site that no money should change hands, if that happens the person is dismissed from the site. It is mostly people doing it as a hobby and they are from all over the world. I initially had about six searching for my relatives until one got a positive lead on Peter John Warren, my birth name. Now we have a face book page called ‘Warrens’ where we share pictures of the family and history and ancestry. She would have to just click on ‘Join’ and after she has been accepted she should put all the info she has, and wait for the ‘Search Angels’ to contact her on the page. Hope this helps. Tony.

Oh and by the way, some have historic records of the Forces which would of course be a great help in finding the person in question. Tony.
