To listen carefully may not be as easy as it sounds, especially when listening to the Liberals!! the new King is more than a wee bit mute on what he has in store for Islanders. More of the same old same old, me thinks!! Of course they are out and about now in the rural districts handing out grants. The PC’s are easier to hear, they are running around making all sorts of promises, sadly they are much of the usual old rhetoric. I listened to one PC candidate making a nomination speech and was very disappointed to hear this. Quote – in the last election (he lost) I was concerned about the Priority Spending, Small Business and Communication, nothing much has changed and today I’m still worried about these issues. Sure they were important four years ago and are still important today, no one will argue with that. However, this is still the same old party policy lines, Liberal/Conservative, no difference. No candidate, the Green party and perhaps the NDP being the exception, wants to talk about rural issues, the unemployed, seniors, chemical spraying, buffer zones, protecting our water, poverty, soup kitchens, Government perks, high taxation, MLA pay scales, MLA meal and travel expense claims, patronage, Oh sorry! I almost forgot, the Liberals did away with patronage, right???? Seriously these are the biggest issue for and so important to the people suffering from them. Hopeful candidates should consider this important, because its a large percentage of the Island voting population. I would ask, is there a potential candidate/politician out there who actually cares about the serious problems faced by so many? Or are they more concerned with winning the election and lining their own pockets??? Indeed, a difficult question for a would be politician to answer honestly. Not so difficult for those politicians disappearing over the horizon hauling their rich severance and pension packages with them. God Bless and keep reading
