It is difficult to know if Ronnie is actually resigning or if he has been given the push. There is so much backroom manouvering in the Liberal party at the moment and many a sitting MLA is being told to move on. Its not surprising when we consider the present Liberal Party politics. They have disregarded democracy for dictatorship. The unelected backroom crowd have ruled out a leadership race, they have chosen an unelected leader and given him the keys to the kingdom. No one has had a say in this development not even the grass root liberals. Crowning an “Old Boy” will ensure he will continue to provide the trough to those out of sight in the backrooms of power. If the liberals don’t call an election as expected the Island would have a premier who has never been elected. How could that even be possible in a democracy? Surely it is time the public stood up and shouted from the roof tops, this is unacceptable. Hopefully we will show our anger at the polls and send this power hungry lot back where they belong. However, getting back to Ronnie, here is a gentleman who has successfully been elected again and again and again for 29 years. In the year 2000 when the Liberal party were blown out of the water in a Tory sweep, only the good ship MacKinley was still afloat and seaworthy. As the lone Liberal in the Legislative assembly he found himself the leader of the opposition. Ronnie may not go down in history remembered as a great statesman and politician. He will however, be fondly remembered by the people in his riding, people whom he worked so hard for. If he has been given the push then it is shame on the Liberal Party, if he is truly resigning then I along with thousands of Islanders wish him the very best. You were a good honest hard working politician in my book, and you will be sorely missed.
God Bless and keep reading.
