Real Change???

rob lantzking wadeChanging a few faces is not real change, it is quite definitely more of the same with a new look. These new faces go around patting each other on the back claiming transparency, responsible and good fiscal management. They change a few rules, fire a few dead wood patronage appointments and expect Islanders to breath easy saying everything is good now. Its not!!! its just more of the same old regime, they are tired, out of fresh ideas and incapable of forward thinking. The government allocates funds for seniors to install heat pumps in their homes. The idea is to get them off expensive oil, instead they allow an increase in electricity rates? Not to forget the fact HST is charged on electricity not oil. Does this make any sense to you? it sure doesn’t to me. When the election happens they will be at your door, these new faces and some familiar old faces, with promises of change, of better times ahead if we elect them. Yeah Right!!!the Irving’s and Co will continue spraying poison on the land, polluting the air and water. Fish will continue to die and bees will become extinct, many birds will disappear and cancer will increase along with all the many other health problems. There is nothing new in this, its been happening for years and will continue to happen until we Islanders change it. Imagine if we could once more call this beautiful island the ” Garden of the Gulf” imagine if we allowed only organic farming, imagine if we heated our homes and businesses with solar and wind energy. What if we could concentrate our energies on producing the very best in fresh and clean produce. If we were a tourist fishing province with clean sparkling rivers and ponds. If our restaurants became famous for fine dining, entertainment and music. You might think much of this is wishful thinking and indeed it probably is. It definitely is if we do nothing and allow the present political systems to continue. Only Islanders can bring about change, but are we up to the task?? That my friends is the real question, its fine to complain but if we don’t act we will just continue to complain and nothing will change. When the next election happens vote your heart not what your parents/grandparents voted, vote for real change. There are three other party’s out there not just Liberal and PC’s. You already know I intend to vote Green and its not because I’m Irish, its because I care.

God Bless and keep reading
