Today is 15th April 2015 and we have completed the first year in our lovely wee house in Abram Village. We sold the big Ebenezer farm house in Sept 2013 and for the winter rented Caroline & Marks summer home in Millvale. In April 2014 we began the move to Abram Village, I was a little apprehensive because we were moving into a French community and neither Linda or I are bilingual. One year on and we are totally settled in we know most of our neighbours, I have joined the local branch of the Legion and the United church. I must have made a reasonably good impression because I was recently asked to run in this district for the PC party in up coming elections. It is so nice to feel settled and to be comfortable, indeed we have just come through a very harsh winter with few problems. Moving after living in one spot for 27 years was very unsettling, I had to scrap years of collected car parts, throw out things we thought we couldn’t possibly manage without. We had to burn an old barn in preparation for listing the Ebenezer house, It seemed a shame as it had once been the original farm home! Tough decisions, but they had to be made and now a year later all seem quite insignificant. We are happily preparing for the summer, Linda has already been out on her new motor bike, I’m a wee bit more cautious about the Mini, roads are still wet with potholes lurking. Maybe in a couple of weeks, in the meantime its wonderful to watch spring pushing aside the melting snow with vibrant green colours overtaking the dirty slushy white lawns. Life is indeed good once more.
God Bless and keep reading.
