Dear oh Dear! the provincial election is over, the Liberals are smiling, have a majority once again, the Greens are smiling, they made a breakthrough electing one member, the NDP are smiling, they did better than expected, and that just leaves the PC’s in tears. What a mess they are in again! their newly minted leader didn’t win his seat. Where does this leave them now?, they did gain seats this time around and elected some new faces, but alas no leader. The back room boys are playing for time, they have stated that Robb Lantz will remain as leader, if outside the rail. Robb Lantz has agreed to stay on, its just a matter of how the party will pay him. I see the PC party back where they started, they cannot last long with an unelected leader. Now we have Myers as opposition leader and Aylward as house leader, not even sure what the second position is? A leadership review is not due for at least 12 months or as long as 24 months. Seems to me the PC’s are back in the same old mess with unhappy members who believe they should be leader. Its early days but I suspect the infighting has already begun. I’m sure if I was a sitting Tory I would not be comfortable with the present situation, they need a leader and they need one now. They need a leader who is elected and not sitting outside the legislation floor. The present situation might be okay for a few weeks/months but it is a guarantee to rapidly deteriorate if not resolved quickly. Lantz is yesterdays man, move on and find a new leader and do it soon. Do it before the knives re-appear and the blood letting begins anew.. Olive Crane must be sitting back laughing and thinking how smart she is to no longer be involve. Interesting and maybe boring times ahead as we watch for the progression or maybe regression of the Progressive Conservative party of PEI.
God Bless and keep reading
