Don’t Believe All You Read on the Web

Straight from the horse’s mouth, or in this case the donkey!!!

Don’t believe all you read on the World Wide Web applies to me on this particular blog. I do donkeyUntitled attachment 00046of course always try to write about actual and realistic subjects. However, it appears I have not done due diligence in this regard, and this was pointed out by one of my readers quite recently (thanks James). I posted a copy of a speech claiming to have been made by the PM of Australia Julia Gillard. A speech in which she warned Muslims living in Australia to obey the laws of the land or get out. I supposed in my own defense, it seemed like a factual story and one of interest to Austrailia PMreaders. However, I really have no valid excuse for posting an erroneous story without first checking its authenticity.  I have learned from this, and will be checking all the future stories and I apologize for other stories I have unwittingly posted as fact. I have gone back over a few earlier blog posts and indeed have found other false stories.  I blog often (every day) and sometimes when I sit at the keyboard my mind draws a blank, hence the use of  stories I read on-line.

A recent example is the story of the wedding chairs

The story: These chairs were laid out for a wedding in 1939 in Poland. The wedding was poland chairsabandoned, and so were the chairs due to the German invasion. They were found again after the war with the trees growing through them. Every year they are repainted .

Not sure where the Holocaust tale came from, but this is actually a picture of an art exhibition. From 2001! It’s called “The Four Seasons of Vivaldi” and it was created by a French artist named Patrick Demazeau. The photo was taken in a forest in the province of Namur, Belgium.

A Warning From History

A German’s View on Islam – worth reading. This is by far the best
explanation of the Muslim terrorist situation I have ever read. His references to past history are accurate and clear. Not long, easy to understand, and well worth the read. The author of this email is Dr. Emanuel Tanya, a well-known and well-respected psychiatrist.

This too was a false story, Dr Emanuel Tanya was not German and he did not write this article.

Just yesterday I received an email with another good story, this one claiming the Japanese Government do not allow Muslim immigrants etc. Totally false.

So folks, my pledge is to do better in the future, no more false stories on this blog, at least not intentionally.

God Bless and keep readingtalking dog2

Hello my friend. I too did not do a check on the Aussie PM story…in fact I added your Blog as fact. After seeing James letter I snoped it found it to be inaccurate and removed it.
So I too better check closer as in this day and age there is a lot of BS being served up as fact. I Cannot understand some of my peers ( Fellow Boy Soldiers) saying that we should hate all muslims? I have lived and worked with many Muslims and do find good as well as bad. Keep on blogging amigo and we shall overcome… The chairs on trees I checked earlier today because I simply thought those trees are far too small to be in excess of 70 years old. So it does pay to verify….hell what have we got but time.
    Take care Robby

Thanks Robby for your support, it is a good lesson learned. Some of these stories are very well presented and scream truth, but are in fact bogus. I was particularly well taken in by the story “A Warning from History” it was well written and very believable yet also very false. Regarding Muslims, there is so much hatred on the airwaves and I suppose most comes from the terrorist attacks and killings. However, I have no personal knowledge of Muslim offenses living here on PEI so I need to check my facts before I jump in with both feet. Like most news items the media like to show the bad the sensational and the cruel etc. Rarely do we see the good people do in such stories that just isn’t news.
