The Dodge Grand Caravan mystery?? have you seen one, I haven’t. Oh!! of course I’ve seen many, they are everywhere. There are many Dodge/Chrysler vans on Canada’s highways. My question, have you actually seen one at a dealership that was available at the advertized price of $18.995. I haven’t and when I ask a salesman I’m told there are none in the Maritime’s maybe none in Canada. The salesman then quickly goes on to qualify that statement by saying you wouldn’t buy the basic model anyway. They are just too basic, bench seats, no power nothing etc etc. Nevertheless, $18,995 is a great price for a new vehicle as popular as the Dodge Mini Vans. I would at least like to see one for myself before making a judgment on whether to purchase. I tend to wonder if these salesmen who are so quick to condemn have actually seen one for themselves. Has Fiat/Chrysler actually produced such a basic van??or is this just a sales ploy? I suppose they could have produced a handful, that would make the advertizing legal, but it is still misleading and questionable. Surely it is time for advertizing regulations to be tightened up, particularly in the field of auto manufacturing. Have you noticed that all three domestic truck manufacturers claim the highest fuel efficiency in their class! Seems to me all three trucks fall into the same class. The Dodge truck also claims to be the longest lasting truck, not sure how they would know that??? It would be nice if for just once we could trust advertizing. However, as things stand it is everyone for themselves, you pay the price and you take your chances. The days of decent honest retailing has gone forever, what one does others must follow in order to compete. We live in a world of buyer beware.
