Montague the Beautiful or should it be Montague the intolerant? I cannot believe the fuss being created over the house recently purchased for the Boys and Girls Club. One would think we were talking about a Hells Angels motor cycle gang moving into the neighbourhood. The claim or dispute is that this is a residential neighbourhood, it is peaceful and quiet place and some locals wish it to remain so. Forgive me if I seem a wee bit dense, I thought it was in residential neighbourhoods where one would expect to find children. Isn’t it where families live and raise their children, have back yard swings, tree houses, pools and trampolines, isn’t where we hear laughter and sometimes crying, the sounds of children. Those who have vowed to sell up and move if the club goes ahead should do exactly that, move! Children are the future, they are what make us families, make us proud, make us soccer Moms & Dads. These people whom doth protest so, are surely relics from the past! do they believe children should be seen and not heard, children should be spanked, sent to bed without supper. These were all things I endured growing up in the 1940’s-50’s but I thought today we knew better and had stopped such cruel methods.
Shame on you Monatgue!!!Wake up Montague Council, these children are our future and they deserve to be treated with love and kindness, they need a place to be safe and enjoy their young lives.
God Bless and keep reading
The people in that area sound like the NIMBY Gang The NIMBY’s are famous for being ignorant of life and friendship. NIMBY (an acronym for the phrase “Not In My Back Yard”), or Nimby, is a pejorative characterization of opposition by residents to a proposal for a new development because it is close to them, often with the connotation that such residents believe that the developments are needed in society but should be further away. Opposing residents themselves are sometimes called Nimbies.
Examples of projects likely to be opposed are fracking, homeless shelters, oil wells, chemical plants, industrial parks, military bases, wind turbines, desalination plants, landfills, incinerators, power plants, prisons, pubs, adult entertainment establishments, firearms dealers, mobile telephone network masts, abortion clinics, toxic waste dumps, group homes, youth hostels, sports stadiums, betelnut vendors, strip malls, housing developments, freight railway, highways, airports, seaports, and medical cannabis dispensaries along with recreational cannabis shops.
The NIMBY concept may also apply more generally to people who advocate some proposal (for example, austerity measures like budget cuts, tax increases, or layoffs), but oppose implementing it in a way that would require sacrifice on their part
NIMBYs cause a lot of things to not get done.
Love it Robby!!!! will have to use in my next blog
