The residents of Montague opposed to the Boys & Girls Club in their neighbourhood are NIMBY`s. It is okay to be a NIMBY if you have your priorities right. Nimby is an acronym for “Not in my Backyard“ Some people oppose all things they see as threatening to them personally. Sane people oppose things that they believe will destroy property values, are dangerous or poisonous such as toxic sprays etc. Here is a list of things I believe most sensible people would oppose.
fracking, oil wells, chemical plants, industrial parks, military bases, wind turbines, desalination plants, landfills, incinerators, power plants, prisons, pubs, adult entertainment establishments, firearms dealers, mobile telephone network masts, abortion clinics, toxic waste dumps, motor cycle gangs, sports stadiums, bootleggers, betelnut vendors, strip malls, housing developments, freight railway, highways, airports, seaports, and medical cannabis dispensaries along with recreational cannabis shops.
But a Boys and Girls Club!!!! Come on folks, wise up.
