Refugees why not Flee to Another Muslim Country?

syrian boyOnce again at the risk of appearing as a racist I have to ask this question. Via the news media we see hundreds of thousands of Muslim refugees fleeing from their war torn lands to the safety of Europe and Western Nations.  However, there are other wealthy and peaceful middle eastern nations in the region, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia just to name a couple. These nations are Muslim, have similar customs, similar diets, similar laws and similar languages. Surely confronted with such violence people would flee to anywhere  safe to get away from the war and killings. Does it not make sense to flee to another nearby nation, a nation that shares similar values. Why is it only to Europe? is it possible these other Muslim countries will not accept refugees? Seems a bit odd, if the religion of Islam is about love and peace then one would expect them to offer aid to other Muslims. I find it very difficult, indeed almost impossible to understand just what the Muslim race want from us. On one hand we are told they are a peaceful race, but then we have ISIS, the Twin Towers, and the many other acts of terrorism and murder perpetrated on the very people willing to help them.  From what I’m led to understand once Muslims arrive safely in countries like Canada, they are welcomed and provided for until they can get back on their feet. Yet once they become established they begin to complain that we offend them with our traditions and our customs. It is offensive to say Merry Christmas! don’t dare say God Bless when a Muslim sneezes! and change the rules at the local pool so women can swim alone, no men allowed. These are the things that offend me, so if that makes me a racist then so be it. I will continue saying God Bless, Merry Christmas and continue to obey the laws of this great nation.

God Bless and keep reading

Here is an interesting article mirroring your sentiment about the more affluent Gulf countries http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2015/09/refugee-crisis-gulf-countries-150905085458691.html

However, I would like to point out that Muslim countries are taking in way more refugees than Europe and the West. Turkey (1.9 mil), Lebanon (1.1 mil), and Jordan (630000) have all taken individually way more refugees than the European countries combined (350000). Heck, Iraq has taken in 250000 Syrians!

Canada is sitting at 10,000 total Syrians and Iraqis. Even if we get the full 25000 that people are quoting that is still pretty pathetic for such a “caring” nation to accept – in my opinion.

    All the best,

    James

You are correct James regarding the nations you mention but they border Syria and in many cases these refugees are in camps just inside the borders, many just spilled over those borders rather than being invited in. I was referring the vastly wealthy oil nations who for the most part have ignored the problem.

Yes. I agree (as does the article I posted) that the ritch gulph states need to do more. I was looking into it and it is interesting that Saudi Arabia keeps changing its story on just how many Syrians it has taken in. Various statements have ranged from 100000 to 2.5 million. If it is only 100000 then they are still behind Germany!
