Letter to the Editor— Same Subject Today!!

legionI was more than a little surprised to open the Guardian this morning (Oct 31st)and find my letter there. It is barely 24 hours since I posted it online(Oct 30th 8am) and already it is  in print in the daily Island newspaper ! Wow!!! I had not realistically expected to see it published until perhaps Monday at the earliest, and even that date was optimistic. Now I’m wondering if it was just a fluke, maybe not many letters to the Ed available?  or was it the topic in question????. Naturally I want to believe it was the subject of my letter that caused it to be so promptly published.  Whatever the reason, its still good to see it so quickly in print,  now I’m wondering(hoping) if the Globe & Mail thought it as newsworthy? I was going to give the subject a rest today thinking my readers might becoming bored with my constant whining about medals.  A time when I should be reminding people of  important things like it is Halloween and the clocks fall back an hour at 2 am Sunday morning. But what the heck!!! its already in one paper and I imagine already stirring comments at homes and legions across the Island. It may be afoot in other newspapers? who is to know. It is excellent timing to present this topic during the poppy campaign while Legionaries are going door to door or selling poppies at shopping centres.  I will watch the Guardian carefully over the next week looking for responses both for and against. I hope if readers see it published in other papers they will be kind enough to let me know.

God Bless and keep reading.
