Yesterday the 7th January 2016, a lovely sunny day I did something quite unusual. I climbed onto the back of Linda’s Quad (ATV) and headed for the woods. Wow, apart from dodging brushes with passing tree branches it was a spectacular ride. We probably travelled about three miles into the forest before coming to a unique hand built cabin complete with a stand alone outhouse. Our neighbour down the road hauled the lumber and other building materials into this site a couple of years ago. One could live here in summer or winter, lights are provided, if limited, by solar panels. Even the outhouse has a light, useful if you like to read while sitting on the throne. Water is supplied by a nearby babbling brook and the trees offer shelter from the wind. However, apart form this amazing little cabin the surrounding woods are absolutely stunning with beauty. The serene silence, the fragrance and smells, chirping birds and the whispering branches of the tall pines makes for a land of fairy tales . I do not believe I have ever experienced such tranquility and beauty in all my years of living on Prince Edward Island. I have travelled the world and seen many amazing places, none were more imposing than standing in the pure white snow and marvelling at the beauty of our rich island nature. This was a wonderful experience that really made me aware of what I have been missing for many years. Snowbirds can have the sunshine of Florida but give me a pleasant afternoon in a PEI wonderland any time. I can not get over the glory and serenity of the natural beauty of this tiny island, this is indeed God’s hands at work.
