I my first encounter with a 1963 Rambler came about at the K Mart Auto Centre in Charlottetown in 1969. It was driven into a service bay by a very pretty young girl from Cymbria. This was then, and has always remained the most special day of my life. It was the first time I met Linda. Now folks if you have read yesterday’s blog you will know I had previously had a few romantic encounters in a variety of British automobiles, none, I should add were particularly successful. In case you are thinking otherwise, by not successful, I mean the romances came to nothing. I know how some people think eh!!. However, to continue the Rambler story, my first meeting with Linda led to second then a third and then many more. At the time I was what you might call car poor, I had an old and very rusty Vauxhall that was off the road. Now you might be thinking I was dating Linda because she had a car. Not true, she also had a portable record player and an 8 track in the car. I have to hand it to the North American can makers, this car was roomy with a large bench seat in the front, a radio and heater ,the latter was appreciated on a cold winter night. My previous and rather naive automotive experiences in tiny uncomfortable British cars never prepared me for what the Rambler held in store for me. One moment we were sitting on the large comfortable front bench seat whilst parked at Victoria Park watching the submarine races!!!The next moment I was flat on my back the seat had become a double bed!!! We are married now!!!! I will never forget that amazing Rambler, it sure beat the hell out of the Bond Three Wheeler.
I could be my own April Fool today??? You all know I’m going to get hell for this blog when a certain, but really lovely, kind, understanding and gentle person reads it. It is possible Saturday’s blog may be late??
God Bless and keep reading
