Much credit must go to Bush Dunville MLA for his untiring work to have the parking fees removed from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The new free parking policy comes into effect on the 1st July 2016. This costly parking fee has been a sore point with islanders for many years. It created hardships for loved ones visiting, for seniors and those attending for treatments. Well done Bush, lots of people will really appreciate this, I know I will. However, while not wishing to sound like a pessimist I do wonder at this sudden gift to islanders from our cash strapped government. Is there an ulterior motive behind the removal of the fees. The budget looms!! what unpleasant increases await us, the unsuspecting tax payers. Would anyone care to guess that we are about to have a increase in the HST??? I seriously hope not, but MacLauchlan is certainly leaning in that direction. Just by stating he doesn’t want to speak about it until budget time, is in itself a very suspicious comment. It is not a Liberal policy to say one good deal deserves another, it is more a question of what they give with one hand they take back with the other.
