It could be said Governments work in mysterious ways? At least that is how they appear to me. I understood the original agreement between the Federal-Provincial Governments and Strait Crossing Corp was a requirement that the land used by the bridge works be restored to its original state by the bridge works??.Now I see our illustrious Premier has purchased the land from Strait Crossing for the sum of $359,000. Then depending on who you believe the clean up is estimated to cost either 2 million or 3 million??. Guess who is on the hook for this tidy sum, of course its we the tax payers of PEI. Tourism Minister Heath MacDonald defended the purchase saying we are are taking forward steps to have the cement pillars removed. When speaking with several construction companies they said they did not know what they could do or how they’d deal with it?? That sure puts my mind at ease!!!anyone want to bet the cost will be 3 rather than 2 million. The Premier will naturally point to the work this clean up will generate, and the number of good jobs for islanders. However, he will avoid mentioning the growing deficit and the ongoing waste of tax payers money. One must consider our Premier comes from a family with a long history of construction work. It becomes more and more difficult to have faith in the government, to believe we are being well and honestly governed.
