I apologized in my blog post dated 22nd November as I could not copy or paste a very interesting article in Esprit de Corps. Esprit de Corps is a well respected publication dealing with all things military. With the help of a good friend and fellow veteran I have now managed to attach the article to this blog. It can be enlarged and is indeed worth the time to read. The article gives a great insight into today’s Royal Canadian Legion and the people that control this once great organization for veterans.
On a slightly different matter, my friend also sent me a copy the The Royal British Legion (Scotland) magazine. In reading through it I came across a photo of our own past president Tom Eagles. What surprised me was, while he was in RC legion uniform he was not wearing his many legion pretend medals! Almost didn’t recognize him without them!!, first time I have seen him without them. Of course there is an easy answer, RBL do not wear these pretend medals and I ‘m sure Eagles felt a wee bit out of place wearing his. The Royal British Legion award lapel pins for a variety of services, whereas our legion pin on their own designed many medals. See the photos on right.
