My Monday morning started off with a photo of Lawrence MacAulay on the front page of the Islander newspaper, the Guardian. Someone congratulating MacAulay on having served 30 years as an MP. It had me wondering what this man had actually achieved for islanders during those thirty years, and what it had cost tax payers. I recall a few years ago, an article was published showing the huge annual expenses our four island MPs racked up. Easter headed the list with somewhere in the region of 500,000 in one year. MacAulay was a close second with approximately 450.000 for the year. If we add salaries pensions and other perks one might shudder at the overall costs, opposed to what benefits tax payers actually received. Next I think of Trudeau, he is bringing back Isis fighters, he calls it rehabilitation and provides start money, hotel accommodations and health care. At the same time he tells veterans, they are asking for more than he can give. Oh boy! The more I write the more depressing this Monday morning is becoming. Here on PEI we have a completely corrupt liberal government that pays out millions to their party faithful. To date some $56 million has gone to a chosen few such as the Murphy Group, Scot Linkletter, Paul Murphy Loyalist Hotel and APM etc. Paul Murphy, by the way, is not connected to the Murphy Group? He just happens to be Kevin Murphy’s son. I might hazard a guess that per size we are probably the roundabout kings of Canada. Of course these roundabouts were necessary to complete the By pass!, except the by pass doesn’t actually by pass anything yet. Nevertheless, this was great job creation for Coastal Construction, not forgetting also great for their bottom line. Did I mention Coastal is run by the Premier MacLauchlans cousin! It would be very interesting if we could follow all this money and see into who’s pockets it finally ends up in. I think if we could total what our politicians have cost tax payers over the last thirty years we might have a rebellion on our hands. Not to worry we will never know, and perhaps it’s better we never find out, the world is in enough trouble as it is. That folks, is my view on the state of the nation, on this dull depressing Monday morning. Sorry I couldn’t offer a more cheerful outlook, but not to worry Tuesday is just around the corner.
God Bless and keep reading
