Journalism in Island Newspapers.?

I can’t remember the last time I saw a sensational headline in either Islander newspapers or for that matter, even a moderately interesting one. Wind and Waves or Clearing the Decks (today’s Journal and Guardian 4th Sept) these hardly inspires interest. Where are the investigative journalist, where are the real topics we want to read about. Not once did I read about the recent Irving land purchase on the front page. Not once have I seen front page comments from our Premier.
No front page headline with screaming condemnation from the opposition leader? Instead we read about corn boils, strawberry festivals, BBQs all organized by local liberal election candidates. How is the Island population going to learn the facts that will determine how they vote in the federal election. Should they be allowed to be distracted with a mouthful of corn or strawberries? Surely it is the job of journalists to provide the facts, provide the information we need. Please let’s read some headlines that are so interesting our coffee goes cold while we read! Newspapers are exactly that, they provide news! God Bless and keep reading.
