Clear Cutting?

The World is facing what could be the greatest threat to human life we have ever witnessed. Climate crisis is closing in and time running out. The question is, are we doing enough to avert disaster? The federal government are pledging to plant two billion trees to fight climate change. However, here on PEI it seems we are doing the exact opposite. It appears any one can go into the woodlands and clear cut with no consequences. Just in the Evangeline region alone there are many places clear cut. That is bad enough, but the people doing this cutting just harvest the best wood and leave behind them a mess of debris, small branches and deep ruts from their equipment. Why is this allowed to happen? Why is it not mandatory to re-plant. Why is the Forestry Department not regulating this rampant cutting down of our trees? I understand the need for lumber, however I do not understand why clean up and re-planting is not being enforced. God Bless and keep reading.
