HM/SM Alcide.

Just learned today of the passing of another shipmate from the submarine Alcide. The Alcide long ago went to the salvage yard, now many of her crew are gone too. It’s very sad, but even more difficult to come to terms with. We were all so young in those days of the early 1960s and having since lost touch with so many friends. Yet they remain in my minds eye as they were then. I have trouble thinking of a shipmate as being old. I realize I’m old, don’t need to look in the mirror, but it’s hard to think of others that way. I don’t know if you can understand what I’m trying to say, it’s just my own perception of my shipmates. I guess we like to remember the past as it was, not as it might be today. Sorry I’m just feeling a little sorry for myself this morning. Just a symptom of old age!  God Bless and keep reading
