EV For and Against

The electric car seems to be all the rage these days. However, we should start to consider the many limitations these vehicles present. One might wonder if they really are the answer to our transportation issues. Would you consider a cross Canada drive in an EV? I wouldn’t. How long do you think it would it take? How many charging stops would be required? Then we must consider the length of time for each recharge. Several hours at best. We must also know where the charging stations are located. But okay, you are not planning a cross country trip, maybe just a quick trip to Costco in Moncton or a visit to Halifax. Do you know the exact distance and the range of your EV. All important questions, if your car runs out of charge what do you do? Cant get a lift to the nearest charging station and bring back a gallon of electricity! What if you get caught up in a long highway delay, in heat or cold you will use up precious battery power. What if you get stuck on the highway in a blizzard and drain your battery. You see, there are many serious situations using electric, that you won’t have with gasoline. In my opinion, until EVs are far more advanced more cost effective, with better longer lasting batteries we should stick with economy gas powered vehicles.  I will agree the use of EVs in city’s and towns can be beneficial in the elimination of exhaust and noise pollution. Might even goes as far to say the EV could be quite practical for city use. My final point, also about pollution, what do we do with all the spent lithium batteries?? I will leave you to make your own decision, In the meantime I’m sticking with my Corolla. As a matter of fact I doubt I could afford a new EV automobile in any case.
God Bless and keep motoring!
